Anchor Point (Madraba)
A long right-hander that wakes up on a NW groundswell. Brilliant wave, biggest crowd in the bay.

The big kahuna of all the surf spots in Taghazout. If you've never heard of it, you've got a lot of homework to do. The two names are tied to its history. We call it Madraba, a fishing technique for bluefin tuna, which Taghazout is very famous for: until a few years ago you could still see the ruins of the tuna factory where the car park is now. As for the Australian name, on an extreme low tide you can see old anchors stuck deep in the rocks at the third section.
Alright, back to the surf. It's basically a long right-hander that only works on a NW groundswell, best at low tide, but it also works when a big swell comes in. With fame come consequences: it's by far the most crowded surf spot in the area.
Confident surfers who can handle a crowded take-off and a rocky entry.
